About Farmington Winter Plein Air

Our Mission

At Farmington Winter Plein Air we aim to highight the importance of visual art from local Utah artists. Our mission is to foster a community of visual art enthusiasts who appreciate and engage with artistic expression. Registrants agree to the following: 


  

  • Starts December 26th through winter snowfalls with turn-in on March 27th in the late morning. You must register above before starting the painting (Paintings sold March 27th and 28th.) The event is in a Davis County building in Farmington UT. Exact hours to be sent out later.

  

  • Minimum of 1 hour required at your personally selected Northern Utah locations (painting includes areas north of Provo City) producing sketches, watercolor studies, or blocking in painting.

  

  • One indoor quick draw during the event will be free to professional artists chosen from those artists requesting to participate. if the photo proves you were there painting the artwork with a date stamp on the photo, then it will work for turn-in.

  

  • Adults may submit up to 2 studio paintings and 4 plein air framed paintings. Youth may submit only 2 plein air framed paintings.


  • Adult artists may bring up to 40 of their non-framed studio paintings (14x11 or smaller) to lean in a black-painted carboard box (Walmart Pen Gear Moving box 17"x11"x12") to sit on neighborhood priced tables. Artists buy boxes, remove folding tabs, paint them black and put their name on the front as a labet 24 pt Roman Letter font. Artists give permission for potential customers to flip through the box and pull out ones they are interested in looking closer at. 


  • The event will include a free indoor Quick Draw for selected professional artists from those wanting to participate..


  • Awards are given out to Adults and Youth.at the event.


  • Artists (and guardians) will sign a liability waivers to protect sponsors of the event. Even though event workers and others may move any painting artist's assume all risk of damage to frames and artwork. Artists are responsible for their artwork. Host and workers are not responsible for accidentally selling at the wrong price, however the Artist may monitor their paintings and oversee the cashier process. If the artist is not there the cashier has the duty to sell the painting. Artists will have access to their artwork 8 hours on Friday and Saturday,except for when the building is locked up by the County after hours. Host, workers, artists and others are not responsible for lost work. Any artworks left after end of the event become the property of the host and may be discarded. Artists release copyright rights for all visitors and others taking photos for social media posts. Artists release rights to host for photos of their paintings used for reproduction, publicity and promotional pursposes for future painting events. Artists should notify Host of professional photographers that are taking photos of inidividual paintings without artist's permission. Participants assume full responsibility for their personal and dependent's conduct, well-being and safety during the Davis County Winter Plein Air Event. Artists agree to following rules and directions implemented by host. The Farmington Winter Plein Air retains a 20% commission on all sales. If the event is cancelled for weather or any other reason, artists agree to only a refund of their registration price and will not hold host and event planners liable for their airlines, rental, travel or any other expenses, including intangible mental distresses.


  • Paintings will be framed or gallery wrapped and ready to hang with wire only. Artist may be asked to set-up and hang their painting.


  • Use submit button for early discounted registration and submit your email at bottom of page for updates. 


  • Updates will also be posted to the Instagram and Facebook accounts listed below.


  • Refunds are available for 2 weeks after registration; with checks sent to your address submitted on payment or reversing the original charge.
